Applications for the CBMR Ph.D. programme

Applications are invited (throughout the year) from the eligible candidates for the appointment of PhD positions at Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), SGPGIMS Campus, Raibareli Road, Lucknow-226014.

 

Minimum Educational Qualification:

  • The canidate MUST hold JRF fellowship/PhD fellowship from recognized Indian Govt. agencies like CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR and INSPIRE Fellowship for Ph.D. etc.

 

  • The candidate MUST have M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Life Sciences/Biological Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/Physics/Cognitive or Neural Sciences.

 

  • The candidate MUST have 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.Sc. or equivalent degree

 

How to Apply:  The interested candidates are requested to send the filled PhD application form directly to the faculty member of his/her choice. A letter of recommendation from one of his/her teachers/mentors MUST be directly sent to the faculty member by the teacher/mentor, not by the candidate. A copy of the same email MUST be sent at phd@cbmr.res.in.

Note: Candidates may be asked by the faculty member for short discussion in person. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates for the travel.

 

 

 

Thrust Areas of Research:

CBMR aims to accelerate scientific discoveries by engaging basic science researchers to seek solutions for critical problems relevant to biomedical research. CBMR currently has four major disciplines;

Molecular Synthesis and Drug Discovery covering thrust areas in chemical sciences like Total Synthesis of Potential Drug Molecules, Asymmetric Synthesis & Catalysis, Organo-catalysis, Chemical Biology, Organometallic Catalysis.

Cancer and Cardiovascular Biology focusing on G-protein mediated signaling and RGS proteins, drugs-induced cardiovascular dysfunction using mouse models and cell culture system.

Biomolecular NMR and Metabolomics with thrust areas in NMR methodology,  structural and functional studies of proteins of therapeutic relevance.

Solid State NMR for various biomedical applications such as studying the bone disorders and pathologies involving cartilage damage.

Structural and Functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and developing magnetic based MRI contrast agents.

 

Research Facilities:

CBMR offers state-of-the-art research facilities and infrastructure to perform cutting-edge research. The infrastructure includes modern research laboratories for chemistry and biology research. The major equipments in central instrumentation facility includes three NMR spectrometers (400/600/800 MHz, BRUKER), 3 T MRI Scanner, Glove box (MBRAUN), Agilent HPLC (analytical/preparative), Agilent HR-MS, Agilent GC-MS, Solvent Purification system, FPLC and many more.

CBMR also offers comfortable housing with mess facility for the selected candidates and the students can avail the sports facilities at the SGPGIMS campus.

CBMR also has its own sports club for carrying out various sports and cultural activities on special occasions.
